Record numbers of people are dying from the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Opioid medication, the category including hydrocodone, oxycodone and heroin, has reached epidemic levels, seeing the largest increases in death by overdose with interactions between multiple substances, sending more and more people to the emergency room. Whether it is an intended overdose or not, it is a deadly reality, and more people now need to be aware of the potential dangers and risks of mixing opioids and alcohol.
